Skate into the Season with Waterfront Winterfest at Penn’s Landing

Ice skating

There’s nothing like an evening spent ice skating alongside the Delaware River, relaxing in a ski chalet-style lodge next to a fire pit, sipping hot chocolate and checking out holiday lights to get you in the mood for the holidays.

Luckily, there’s all that and more at the Waterfront Winterfest at Penn’s Landing, which is held until March 5 and is only three miles away from your Edgewater apartment. With family-friendly activities by day and holiday lights, scrumptious food and winter cocktails by night, Winterfest is a must-visit for any Edgewater resident – and an affordable one, too with admission being free and skate rental being only $10.

After a few laps around the RiverRink, stop inside The Lodge, an onsite restaurant that features heated tents, cozy seating and refreshments from the Garces Group and Chickie and Pete’s like craft beers, cocktails and spiced hot beverages. You’ll also find goodies from the Franklin Fountain Confectionary Cabin.

Plus, right next door to The Lodge is an abundance of arcade games and ever-changing daily entertainment as well as a holiday tree dressed in tens of thousands of twinkling LED lights linked to a Bluetooth-programmable system that allows staff to creatively produce different colors, effects and visualize music.

The Blue Cross RiverRink is in its 23rd season as an outdoor ice skating rink and its fourth season of Winterfest with more and more Philadelphians flocking to this holiday staple each year.
