Every May the city of Philadelphia comes alive with so many summer fun favorites our residents love. The sun is shining and more than ever Edgewater residents should be gearing up to take advantage of their home’s amazing location. Here’s our guide to some great activities that are kicking off this May, so don’t miss out!
Philadelphia Chinese Lantern Festival – This beautiful display returns to Franklin Square once again, after last year’s great success. Opening on May 9th, for six weeks attendees can enjoy over 15,000 LED lights in 29 different lantern displays. With a 200-ft dragon, classic Asian food, beer garden, and live dance performances, the Philadelphia Chinese Lantern festival is an all-around exciting cultural experience.
Spruce Street Harbor Park – There aren’t many warm-weather destinations in Philly as beloved as Spruce Street Harbor Park. This pop-up outdoor oasis is right along the river. Known for its colorful hammocks and fun games, it’s free and open to the public. The park opens on May 12th, come hang out and maybe even try a delicious meal at the floating restaurant.
Blue Cross RiverRink Summerfest – This spot is so packed with awesome activities, some call it a “seasonal wonderland”. Attendees can enjoy a game of mini golf, arcade games, and delectable food vendors all with a beautiful view of the river and the Ben Franklin Bridge. This summer festival even has the city’s only outdoor roller rink. It’s open May through the fall, so there’s no excuse to miss the Blue Cross RiverRink Summerfest.
