Beer gardens are a long-standing favorite activity amongst Philly residents and a great way to mix up your bar routine for the summertime. Outdoor drinking is a celebrated pastime and this summer Edgewater residents can enjoy more pop-up beer gardens than ever before. The most anticipated “watering hole” of the season is actually a traveling beer garden called Parks on Tap, that will be setting up shop at different parks and green spaces throughout the summer. It kicked off on May 17th and will run all the way through October 1st.
Over the course of the summer Parks on Tap will visit 20 different park locations. The destination changes every week, so there’s always somewhere new to go. The beer garden is partnered with Philadelphia Parks and Recreation and the Fairmount Park Conservancy, so it aims to encourage community involvement and give back to the neighborhood’s outdoor spaces.
Visitors can enjoy fresh food, craft beer on tap, wine, snacks and soft drinks within the Parks on Tap grounds. It will also feature hammocks and comfortable seating. While it is primarily a bar, children are welcome and there’s fun for the whole family. Some of our favorite park locations include Shofuso Japanese House and Garden, Penn Treaty Park, and Belmont Plateau. Don’t miss the Schuylkill Banks beer garden from July 12th through 16th, it’s walking distance from Edgewater Apartments.
