Every year Benjamin Franklin Parkway shuts down for the city’s musical event of the year. Made In America is a 2-day music festival that draws an average of 80,000 attendees. While most of the festival goers will be staying at hotels, lucky Edgewater residents are just a short walk from the event. This festival is huge and tons of fun. Save the date, it runs from Saturday, September 2nd through Sunday, September 3rd so it’s a great way to spend your Labor Day Weekend.
Made In America was founded in 2012 by Jay Z and was created as a way to bring together music and culture. The festival features acts of all different genres including hip hop, electronic, rock, pop, and R&B. Some of this year’s artists are Jay Z, J. Cole, The Chainsmokers, Kaskade, Migos, Marshmello, Cash Cash, and Pusha T. There are five stages, including two main stages, on the grounds that accommodate all different genres and sizes of performance. The event is sponsored by Budweiser, so there are plenty of beer tents and bars throughout the Parkway.
Get ready to dance the day and night away. Make sure you wear something red, white, and blue, a common tradition amongst festival goers. If you want to take a break from the music, there’s plenty of other cool things to check out. An entire section of the event’s grounds is dedicated to important causes and charities to get involved with. There’s also great shopping opportunities at the vendors and a whole array of food trucks for whenever you get hungry. Made In America even has carnival games. There’s something fun for everyone.
