These days, it seems like there’s always a new article, expose, or documentary delivering the (sometimes literally) hard-to-swallow news that a lot of the food we put in our bodies is detrimental and even poisonous. Specials like “What the Health”, “Food Inc.”, “Forks Over Knives”, and “Fast Food Nation” are trendier than ever and really shedding light on some of the issues in modern day dietary choices, particularly the dangers of consuming animal byproducts. Still, changing what we consume can be quite challenging, especially when it comes to eating out. We know Edgewater residents always like to stay informed, insightful, and healthy, so we thought we would tell you about this delicious, renowned restaurant right in the neighborhood with an entirely ‘plant-based’ menu.
Eat well. Live happy. Hip City Vedge is a beloved spot to grab a meal by herbivores and omnivores alike. Counter-style ordering makes it a quick bite and a great place to stop for lunch with friends. Their menu is entirely vegan, but don’t let that scare you. What this restaurant lacks in animal products it makes up for doubly in pizzazz and creativity. Featured on their menu are burgers and sandwiches, “chick’n”, salads, wraps, sides, and shakes. They also offer breakfast options. Hip City Vedge is completely dedicated to sustainability, besides just being plant-based, all of their packaging and utensils come in compostable packaging. You can read more about their strides towards a green lifestyle and business on their website.
Hip City Vedge has three locations in Philadelphia. Lucky for Edgewater residents, there is one right off of Rittenhouse Square, about a 20-minute walk or a 10-minute drive from your apartment.
