Philadelphia is filled with old and new cuisine from all different origins, chefs, and practices. It’s the kind of city where you can find just about any dish and you can find it done well. Local eateries excel in the experimental and classic favorites are downright religion in this town. While the city is known for its cheesesteaks, Philadelphia’s pizza is another lesser-known source of local pride. Depending on what part of town you are in, though, not all pizzerias are created equal. That’s why we went out into Edgewater’s neighborhood in search of the best slice and we found it. Let us save you the trouble of a soggy slice, we know residents will love Pete’s Famous Pizza.
Located on 21st and Appletree Street, Pete’s is only about a 5-minute walk from Edgewater. That means it’s not only the best, but it’s convenient too. Pete’s Famous Pizza is a local fixture, it’s been in business for almost 40 years. Once named the city’s best pizza by Philadelphia Magazine, pizza lover’s would be hard-pressed to find a better pie in this neighborhood. Pete’s Famous Pizza was even featured on the Food Network.
Both foodies and picky eaters alike will love Pete’s version of this classic, cheesy dish. They offer an eat-in menu, take-out, deliveries, and catering. Stop in and try one of their signature pizzas, we like the “Holy Roller”. If you get a chance, ask about their catchphrase, “Hot Stuff To Go”, for a funny story about the pizzeria’s history.
