The “Starman” is landing in Philly this month, if only in spirit. January 5th kicks off the city’s second annual Philly Loves Bowie week and music fans are rejoicing. In correlation with the one year anniversary since the rockstar’s passing and his birthday, events are being held throughout Philadelphia to honor the musical legend. Festivities run until January 14th, so there’s plenty of opportunities to have your own “Moonage Daydream”.
Just like the man who inspired them, the week’s activities are truly diverse and unique. There’s a blowout benefit for the CHOP fund at Rebel Rebel Salon, a Bowie-inspired beer tasting at Doobies Bar, special showings of “Labyrinth” or “The Man Who Fell to Earth” at theatres around the city, a Bowie Burlesque Cabaret dance party at Franky Bradley’s, and even Bowie inspired stardust donuts at every FedNuts location. That’s just naming a few. One special we are excited about is Bowie Tattoo Week at Moo Tattoo, where $40 designs will be available throughout the event. If you’re looking for something good for the whole family, be sure to check out “A Snowy Bowie Skate” at the Blue Cross RiverRink Winterfest.
Come out and help make Philly Loves Bowie Week a success. Bowie might be not be returning from “Life on Mars”, but that doesn’t mean we can’t still have our own “Space Oddity”. Check out the official website for a full listing of events.
