Philadelphia’s favorite lunch spot turns 125 years old this February. If you don’t know Reading Terminal Market then you are missing out. Once a bustling train station, this historic building now houses an eclectic mix of food and specialty goods. Locals know that the market has some of Philly’s best eats that you can’t find anywhere else. Whether you’re on the hunt for a gourmet crepe, traditional gumbo, authentic Thai, or Amish baked good, you can always satisfy your craving at Reading Terminal. That’s why we think it’s important to celebrate this dining gem and wish them another 125 years of success.
Reading Terminal Market officially turns 125 years old on February 22, 2018. This will kick off a series of year-long specials and events to honor their accomplishment. Super-fans of the establishment can even purchase a commemorative plaque. The first event planned is 1983 day, which will transport visitors back in time to the market’s original conception. Expect Victorian decor, costumes, as well as “penny riders”. It will be a great day to get deals too because participating locations will be rolling back their prices 125 years. Visits from government officials and local celebrities are planned.
Come out and celebrate and be sure to bring an empty stomach!
