Three Spots for a Mother’s Day Meal

If Mother’s Day snuck up on you, you’re not alone!

Finding the perfect gift for Mom or the other ladies in your life, especially in a pinch, can be a challenge. Instead of wrapping up a gift she may or may not need or even want, give her something every woman can enjoy: the gift of time!

Schedule a Sunday brunch to celebrate the moms in your family. Having a relaxing and delicious meal with loved ones is a great way to give back to the ladies who give so much throughout the year.

There are lots of renowned brunch spots in Philadelphia, including many near your Edgewater apartment, sure to put a smile on Mom’s face. Here a few of the standouts:

Walnut Street Café: This marks the first Mother’s Day for the newly opened Walnut Street Café, six blocks from your Edgewater apartment, and the popular brunch spot is sure to be packed. The corner café-style eatery hosts a Sunday jazz brunch from noon-2:30 p.m., featuring live music and a full menu including hand-crafted sandwiches, pastries, a raw bar and, of course, several different kinds of mimosas.

24 Wood Fired Fare: About a half mile from your Edgewater apartment, 24 Wood Fired Fare features Italian food from famed chef Jose Garces. Brunch is served from 10 a.m.-2:30 p.m. on weekends, kicking traditional favorites up a few notches with selections like duck confit waffles and a wood-oven frittata.

Danlu: The new Taiwanese University City eatery, about one mile from your Edgewater apartment, is a great fit for moms with international tastebuds. The restaurant recently started serving brunch, which includes items like smoked salmon wrapped in a poached egg and Coffin bread, a popular Taiwanese pot pie featuring shrimp and chicken. Danlu’s brunch drinks are also adventurous, such as the Sunday morning: bourbon, crème de cacao, Rumchata and cashew syrup. Yum!
