Three Ways to Send Off Summer

summer sun

August  has  arrived,  meaning  the  end  of  the  summer  will  shortly  follow,  a  bittersweet  time  for  lovers  of  fun  in  the  sun.  If  you’re  dreading  the  shorter  days,  the  cooler  weather  and  the departure  of  the  lazy,  leisurely  days  of  summer,  you’re  certainly  not  alone!  However,  there  are  still  a  few  short  weeks  where  we  can  embrace  all  that  summer  has  to  offer—and,  near  your  Edgewater  apartment,  that’s  an  awful  lot!

Here  are  a  few  ways  to  squeeze  the  most  you  can  out  of  the  end  of  summer  2018:

Spruce Street Harbor Park: One of the city’s most popular attractions, Spruce Street Harbor Park, 2.5 miles from your Edgewater apartment, still has a few more weeks of fun available. The riverside pop-up park packs up for the fall Sept. 30. Until then, you can enjoy craft drinks on a barge, go head to head with friends in carnival games along a boardwalk, indulge in ice cream and other treats or just kick back with a book and some tunes in a hammock. The urban oasis has grown every year, and 2018 has been no different, so make sure you head over before it closes to check out what organizers have in store for the end of the summer.

Parks on Tap: The city’s traveling beer garden is heading into its final weeks and luckily will be stopping at Clark Park, two miles from your Edgewater apartment, Aug. 29-Sept. 3. The pop-up event features craft brews, gourmet foods, games and lots of opportunities to soak in the sun with neighbors and friends.

uCity Square: The Pennsylvania Horticultural Society’s uCity Square is a pop-up beer garden, 1.5 miles from your Edgewater apartment. Through the end of August, enjoy food from famed restauranteur Jose Pistola’s, as well as summer cocktails, beers and wines, and special events such as yoga and Quizzo.
